Pole Barn Concrete Floor Thickness

Dear guru my husband and i are getting ready to construct a pole barn 40 x 80.

We had a contractor recommend a 6 floor and 4 ft cement walls which i m guessing drives the price up substantially. 3 8 or 1 2 will be fine. Dirt and gravel floors are cheap but they are also hard to keep clean and maintain.

If you have heavier equipment you may want to consider flooring up to 6 thick for better wear and tear. No matter what type of pole barn flooring you re thinking of make sure to consider how you ll be using the pole barn. Will it primarily be for storing equipment. Will it primarily be for storing equipment.

Prior to pouring a nominal 4 3 1 2 actual completed thick concrete slab in building finished graded compacted fill top will be even with skirt board bottom. Use plenty of rebar to stabalize the slab.
